IPL: Top 5 bowling performances of all time for RCB (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) came under fierce criticism for their buys in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Their critics felt that after releasing eminent names Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga, Challengers didn’t pick up quality players at the business event held in Dubai.

RCB have never won any title in the cash-rich league but they got the services of illustrious bowlers such as Anil Kumble, Muttiah Muralitharan, Daniel Vettori, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mitchell Starc, and Dale Steyn. Noting the rich legacy of the team, their present bowling attack doesn’t look potent. However, RCB fans will have to show faith in their newly-formed bowling unit and boost the confidence of their team for the upcoming season. Before cheering for their side in the competition coming ahead, Bangalore supporters can revisit some extraordinary bowling innings of their team with this article.

Here are RCB’s five greatest bowling performances of all time in IPL:

5. Daniel Vettori’s 3/19 against Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2011

Under Daniel Vettori’s captaincy, RCB performed exceptionally in 2011 and concluded the competition as runners-up. As a bowler, the New Zealand legend took 12 wickets in 13 matches at a frugal economy of 6.01. His best came against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Playing the enormous contest, RCB lost the toss and put to bat first. Chris Gayle, who was in excellent touch in the competition, played an extraordinary knock of 89 off 47 and helped Challengers post 185 runs on the board. In the second innings of the game, Vettori led his team from the front, claiming 3/19 figures in four overs.

In his magnificent spell, he scalped the prized wickets of Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, and Kieron Pollard. Riding on their captain’s superb bowling display, RCB restricted MI to 142 and qualified for the final of the competition against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
