3. Gordon Greenidge
Gordon Greenidge was a proven performer in the international arena. The former West Indies batter featured in 108 Tests and scored 7558 runs at an average of 44.72. When it came to ODI cricket, he scored 5134 runs in 128 matches at an average of 45.03.
West Indies battled against England in the final game of the five-match Test series in April 1990 in St John's. After electing to bat first, the Three Lions posted 260 in their first innings.
Greenidge, who was playing his 100th Test started the proceedings with the bat for the West Indies alongside Desmond Haynes. The opening duo hammered England's bowling attack all around the park. They scaled their respective three-figure mark and helped Viv Richards & co. post 446 runs in their first innings.
Greenidge smashed 149 runs off 207 balls. The blistering knock consisted of 18 boundaries and three maximums. After the Gordon-Haynes show, the West Indies bowlers came to the party and Richards & co. won the game by an innings and 32 runs.
