2. Rohit Sharma - 11 Years
Rohit Sharma, the current Indian captain, was also once quite a regular contributor with the ball in the Indian team. He surprisingly has a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League, and is the only player to achieve a hat-trick and a century in the IPL. Overall, Rohit has 9 wickets in his 260 ODIs with a best of 2/27.
Rohit Sharma’s first ODI wicket came in 2009 against the West Indies. He regularly bowled till 2012. His last wicket, before a finger injury kept him from bowling, came in 2012 in the tri-series in Australia, against the hosts on 19th February 2012. He dismissed Matthew Wade caught and bowled.
It wasn’t until the recent India vs. Netherlands ICC World Cup 2023 match, that Rohit Sharma managed to pick up another wicket. This wicket was of Teja Nidamanuru, who had top-scored for the Dutch with 54 in their innings of 250. Trying to hit a six, Teja hit the ball straight to Mohammed Shami at long on for a simple catch, giving Rohit an ODI wicket after 11 years.
