Australia are going through tough times as they have failed to make a good start in this World with embarrassing defeats in their first two games. In their opening contest, they locked horns with the hosts India and got a comprehensive six-wicket hammering at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

On Chennai’s turning track, Australia’s batters became the victim of Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. The spin duo picked up five wickets and played a major role in dismissing Australia on a paltry 199 in 49.3 overs. Against India’s disciplined bowling unit, only Aussie veterans David Warner (41 off 52) and Steven Smith (46 off 71) put up some fight.

Mitchell Starc, who came to bat at nine, scored 28 off 35 and helped Australia reach 199. The pacer came to bat at a time when the Aussies were seven down at a score of 140. It was the 33-year-old’s batting effort that helped Australia post a fighting total on the board.
