Afghanistan had their best outing in the ICC World Cups as they won 4 matches including wins over three former World Cup champions in Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka. They could’ve made it into the semis, had not been for Glenn Maxwell’s whirlwind 201* in Mumbai.

Their senior-most player Mohammad Nabi played a supporting role in Afghanistan’s success with 8 wickets and 55 runs. But at almost 39 years of age, Nabi is well past his prime and has already played 156 ODIs for his country, scoring 3208 runs and taking 162 wickets. This would be the perfect time for Nabi to walk away as Afghanistan would want to focus on younger players from here on.
