India skipper failed to produce an effective knock against Australia in his first 2023 World Cup match but in the game against Afghanistan, the veteran came heavily on bowlers and notched up a scintillating century. Riding on his 131-run knock-off in just 84 balls, the 'Men in Blue' handed an eight-wicket defeat to the Afghan side.

During his swift innings, Rohit hit five sixes and became the Indian batter with the most maximums in the World Cup. Rohit shattered former India opener Sachin Tendulkar’s feat of 27 sixes in 44 innings to achieve this record. The India captain pulled off this remarkable feat in just 19 innings.

In the upcoming days, Rohit might be seen superseding former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting, and South Africa’s legend AB de Villiers to sit in second place on the tally of batters with the most sixes in the World Cup tournaments.
