4. Pakistan’s highest chase at the World Cup
Pakistan have got a perfect start in this World Cup, winning two off two games. After beating the Netherlands in their maiden 2023 World Cup match, Babar Azam and his men looked confident against Sri Lanka as well. Pakistan aren’t considered the best side during chases in ODIs. Before the 2023 World Cup, their most successful chase was 263 runs against New Zealand in the 1992 edition of the tournament.
In their second match of the 2023 World Cup, Pakistan chased down 345 against Sri Lanka and registered their highest successful chase at the World Cup. Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan chipped in with their centuries to pull off the enormous target of 345 and helped the Men in Green script history.
Rizwan played a vital role in this notable success as he took the team home with his 131-run innings off 121 balls and also received the Player of the Match award. This is also Pakistan’s second-most successful chase of their ODI history.
