Let's have a look at the standings of teams on the basis of their victory percentages in the illustrious tournament.
1. Australia- 72.63%
Australia enjoys an unprecedented record in the World Cup with a victory percentage of 72.63. The Aussies are the most successful in the tournament, with five trophies in their cabinet. In the maiden edition of the World Cup, they concluded their journey as the runners-up losing to the West Indies.
In the 1987 World Cup, they beat England in the final at iconic Eden Gardens and became the champions under Allan Border. The Aussies grabbed a lot of eyeballs during the 2000s when they won the 2003 and 2007 World Cup editions under Ricky Ponting and surpassed the West Indies to become the greatest team in the ODI tournament.
Michael Clarke, who handed Australia their fifth title in the 2015 World Cup, continued Ricky Ponting’s legacy with the team’s fifth title triumph. Under Clarke, the Aussies also became the second side to win the World Cup trophy as hosts, registering an emphatic seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the final.
