Oldest Captains to win a men's T20 Final
Some legendary Captains have achieved glory in the latter stages of their careers in the shortest format.
1. Imran Tahir (44 Years & 181 days, CPL 2023)
Imran Tahir, the former South Africa leg-spinner broke records when at 44 years and 181 days, he captained the Guyana Amazon Warriors to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2023) title on Sunday, September 24. This ended the team’s 10-year wait to become champions. Tahir became the oldest captain to lead his side to a T20 trophy win.
Despite retiring from international cricket in 2019, Tahir has continued to play in T20 leagues around the world. Tahir was very emotional after the victory and thanked the fans and the supporters for coming in large numbers and supporting the franchise. He also finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament, with 18 scalps in 13 matches.
