Nathan Lyon made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium in August 2011. In his maiden international match, he played a crucial role in Australia’s 125-run win. While defending 273 for his team, he clinched a fifer in the first innings and became the wrecker-in-chief to fold the hosts on a paltry 105.

In 2014, during Australia’s tour of South Africa, the right-arm off-break bowler took a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test in Port Elizabeth. Lyon proved his efficiency with the ball during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2016-17. The veteran bagged 19 wickets in seven innings of four matches and became the joint-highest wicket-taker for the Aussies in the competition, along with Stephen O’Keefe.

Australia travelled to the UAE to take on Pakistan in September 2018 for a couple of Tests. In the series, Pakistan handed them a 1-0 defeat but for Lyon, it was a decent campaign. He claimed 12 wickets in four innings of two Tests and became the best bowler for his side on the tour. Talking about his overall bowling numbers from 2010-19, he scalped 380 wickets in 182 innings of 95 Tests.
