Steven Smith could be considered the best Test batter of current times. After making his Test debut against Pakistan in 2010, Smith struggled to find a spot in Australia’s team for red-ball cricket. However, things changed for him after the 2013 Ashes held in England. He scored 345 runs in 10 innings of five matches in his team's unsuccessful campaign.

The veteran took his form ahead in the home season and helped his team to whitewash the arch-rivals England in the Ashes 2013-14. In his side’s mind-boggling achievement, he chipped in with 327 runs in nine innings of five Tests, with a couple of tons.

He showcased his mettle during Australia’s tour of South Africa 2013-14, as well. This time, the Aussies hammered the Proteas in a three-match Test competition, by a 2-1 margin. For Smith, it was a decent campaign as he produced a couple of impressive knocks and helped his team to clinch the series.

In 2019, Australia succeeded in retaining the Ashes urn, and the credit for this success went to Smith, who played an aggressive brand of cricket and levelled the series for Australia by 2-2. The star Aussie player hit 774 runs in seven innings of four Tests, with three tons and three half-centuries. Discussing his performance from 2010-19, the 34-year-old scored 7164 runs in 130 innings of 72 Tests.
