Rating 10 Test batters of last decade
At a time, when there were a lot of talks about the future of Test cricket, some players performed incredibly with their bats and uplifted the standard of the format.
9. David Warner (7.5/10)
David Warner made his Test debut in December 2011 against New Zealand in Brisbane. Warner once said that his Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) teammate, Virender Sehwag, made him believe that he could play Test cricket. The left-handed batter proved his Delhi teammate correct with his excellent batting performances for Australia.
In Australia’s Test series success in South Africa in 2014, Warner played an illustrious role with his bat. He accumulated 543 runs in six innings of three Tests and became the highest run-getter in the competition. Riding on his superb batting shows, the Aussies clinched the series by a 2-1 margin.
Australia thrashed England in the Ashes 2017-18, winning four of five contests. This time again, Warner showcased his class, scoring 441 runs in eight innings of five matches. In the 2024 Australian summer, he will hang up his boots. After his retirement, the veteran will be remembered for his amazing contribution to the Australian team. In Tests, the 2011-19 period could be considered the best phase of his career as his batting numbers prove the fact.
