AB de Villiers bid adieu to international cricket in 2018 and the legendary batter concluded his career with 8765 runs in 191 innings of 114 Tests. With these numbers, he is the fourth-highest run-getter for South Africa in cricket's oldest format. He played 60 Tests from 2010-18 and accumulated 5059 runs in 98 innings.

South Africa registered their second Test series win on Australian soil and de Villiers was one of the Protea stalwarts who played a crucial role in the victory with his notable knock in the third Test at the Western Australia Cricket Association Stadium. Scoring 169 in the second innings, he contributed to his team’s massive 309-run win over the Michael Clarke-led side.

In October 2013, South Africa clashed with Pakistan in a two-match Test series. Following the seven-wicket loss in the first Test, South Africa faced the hosts at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In the do-or-die match, captain Graeme Smith played an incredible 234-run knock, and supporting him, de Villiers also outclassed Pakistan bowlers and contributed 164 runs to the team. His innings helped South Africa pocket the match comfortably by an innings and 92 runs.
