2. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has been one of India’s leading spinners in the white-ball circuit. He has bagged 118 wickets in 67 ODIs at an economy of 5.22. while in T20Is, he has picked 85 scalps in 69 matches at an economy of 8.12.
The leg-spinner is renowned for his wicket-taking prowess and has been a vital cog in India’s T20 setup. Chahal’s aggressive bowling style would have been aided by the big grounds of Australia but the Men in Blue opted for increasing their batting depth and went with spin-bowling all-rounders Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing XI.
However, Axar has not been able to deliver the goods at the grandest stage. The 28-year-old has managed to take just three wickets in four games, leaking runs at an economy of 9.10. Also, he has been dismal with the bat too scoring mere nine runs in the tournament so far .
With Axar being unable to offer much with both bat and ball, Rohit Sharma & Co. could look to add a genuine bowler like Chahal to the XI. The veteran spinner’s inclusion will in turn add more bite to the bowling attack.
