T20 World Cup 2022: 5 benched players who might get a chance in semi-final
There are a few T20 stars who might get their first game of the T20 World Cup 2022 in the semi-finals.
1. Martin Guptill
Martin Guptill has been a giant of a player in the T20 circuit. He has featured in 303 games in the shortest format and amassed 8569 runs at a strike rate of 130.80. The veteran batter has been phenomenal for New Zealand as well, aggregating 3531 runs in 122 T20Is at a strike rate of 135.70.
For the ongoing T20 extravaganza, Guptill has been contesting for an opening slot with Finn Allen, who has been sensational for the Blackcaps of late. Allen has taken the attack to the opposition and provided his side with brisk starts. Overall, the youngster has hit 560 runs in 22 T20Is at a stunning strike rate of 165.68.
Due to Allen’s rise, Guptill has been on the sidelines in the marquee event. However, come the high-voltage game against Pakistan where the stakes will be higher than ever, the team management might ponder over including the experienced campaigner in the playing XI.
