The Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2022 got concluded with India securing a big victory over Zimbabwe and topping the points table. It was an exciting contest between top teams around the world, while some lower-ranked teams caused an upset and will depart from this tournament with confidence under their belt.
The four semi-finalist of the show-piece event are India, Pakistan, New Zealand and England. All four teams were brilliant with their executions on the field and deserved a spot in the final four. Here is the rating for all the teams on the basis of their performances in Super 12.
12. Afghanistan – 6/10
The Afghanistan team were involved in two rain-abandoned matches, which already pushed them backwards in terms of qualification to the knockouts. In the end, they could not return with any victories under their belt and finished in the last position of Group 1.
Afghanistan started well to put England under pressure, but the latter sealed the game. Their clash against England and Ireland were washed out. Then they featured against Sri Lanka and failed to defend their total of 144 runs.
In the final game against Australia, the Mohammad Nabi-led side displayed a spirited effort to restrict Australia to 168 on a belter. In reply, Afghanistan lost wickets in between, but Rashid Khan managed to take the game deep, but they fell short by five runs and ended the game on a losing side.
