T20 World Cup 2022: Rating jerseys of top 8 teams for mega event

The T20 World Cup fever is back as the eighth edition of the tournament is set to get underway on October 16 and the teams have been quite busy with their preparations. The mega ICC event will take place in Australia and the fast bowlers are expected to have more of a say going by the conditions. Among the traditions for the tournament, revealing jerseys has always been a special moment and it has continued for this edition too. While most teams had unveiled their jerseys on social media, some of the teams are yet to confirm on it and haven’t made noticeable announcements. With just few days remaining in the start of the T20 extravaganza, it is time to rate the jerseys of top eight teams participating in the tournament. Pakistan – 7/10 Pakistan Cricket revealed their jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in the month of September and a lot of expectations for it had popped up even before the jersey was unveiled. The PCB had earlier hinted on the theme being ‘thunder’ and the sad part was that the images of the jersey were leaked on social media even before it was officially announced. Skipper Babar Azam was the centre of attraction for posing with jersey and it triggered a lot of memes among the netizens regarding the colour theme compared to watermelon. Pakistan will start their T20 World Cup campaign against their arch-rivals India on October 23. England – 7.5/10 England will start as one of the favourites to win the tournament and they have confirmed their jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The Jos Buttler-led side will be wearing a red-coloured theme jersey and blue coloured trousers for the tournament. Coming to the jersey, it has The Three Lions printed on it in the front portion, while the logo of the England flag has also been included. England missed out on the trophy last year after losing to New Zealand in the semi-finals in the previous edition and they will be hoping to repeat their 2010 heroics. The current group of New Zealand cricketers had posed with their new jerseys and the ‘retro’ theme proved to be a great success among the fans. The jersey had a combination of the present and past and reminds a little bit of the 1990s when the Kiwis had worn ash-coloured shirts. The top half of the shirt is gray while the remaining portion is covered in black. The runners-up of the previous edition will play Australia in their first game on October 22. The jersey is fully green with red shades on the sides. Coming to the design, the jersey is inspired by Bangladesh’s famous muslin textile – Jamdani, the Royal Bengal Tiger and the beautiful Sundarbans. The image of the Royal Bengal Tiger is printed on one side while majority of the front of the shirt covers an impression of it. The trousers are completely green in colour and end up as a good match with the shirt. “The grand revealing! This year's Men's World Cup 2022 jersey for the Bangladesh Cricket Team has been created using the essence of Bangladesh,” the Bangladesh Cricket Board mentioned through a video on Twitter. Bangladesh will start their campaign on October 24 and are scheduled to play two warm-up games before that. Aunty Fiona Clarke and Courtney Hagan have designed the jersey and have put a lot of artworks into it. While the sleeves are covered in black, the majority of top portion on the front of the shirt will have green and gold colour which usually depicts the Australian side. The remaining portion has been used up by Walkabout Wickets artwork and overall, the jersey has a lot of representation which brings value to the side. “Our men's national team will don a new uniform designed by Kirrae Whurrong woman Aunty Fiona Clarke, in collaboration with Butchulla and Gubbi Gubbi woman Courtney Hagan, when they defend their @T20WorldCup title on home soil next month,” Cricket Australia tweeted. The defending champions start their campaign on October 22 against New Zealand. They recently played a limited overs series in India with their traditional kit which had the two colours of green and yellow combined. South Africa tend to have a pentagon like pattern in their shirt filled on the lower side and the collar is yellow in colour. The majority of the jersey is covered with green while shades of yellow are used in some places. The Proteas logo is used on the top of the shirt while the trousers are completely filled with green colour with a yellow line on it. The Temba Bavuma led-side start their campaign on October 24 in the ICC event and are scheduled to play two warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh before that. Afghanistan - 8/10 Afghanistan are yet to reveal their jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 and a special one could be expected soon. In the recent Asia Cup 2022, Afghanistan used a jersey designed for the particular tournament and it was blue in colour. The Asia Cup jersey had the sponsor's name on both sides of the shoulders as well as the front portion of the shirt while the trousers were completely in blue. Strokes of red and blue were combined for the majority portion of the shirt while the red sleeves captured a lot of attention. Afghanistan are set to start their campaign in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 against England on October 22 and are likely to produce some upsets with a strong set of squad this time. India – 8.5/10 The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) unveiled their jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 few weeks ago on September 18 and the changes did receive positive response from fans. The dark blue shade was changed to light blue for both the shirt and the trouser. Coming to the design, the shoulder section of the jersey till the neck is filled with dark blue. In an image posted by BCCI, skippers Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur were seen posing with the new jersey and they were accompanied with few of their teammates too. “To every cricket fan out there, this one’s for you.
