The Kiwis are one of the safest fielders in the game. Over the years, they have done so well to call themselves one of the best fielding units in the world, if not the best. Brendon McCullum, their former captain, instilled the importance of a good fielding side and that became a massive part of their game.
Players like Martin Guptill, Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Jimmy Neesham are examples of some of the finest fielders in the Black Caps squad. Guptill, with 67 catches is the second in the list of most catches in the history of T20I cricket while Tim Southee, with 47 catches ranks tenth in the list.
Fitness is their biggest strength and that’s the primary reason behind their success in the department. They don’t let the batters take easy runs, and thus, it puts pressure on them to clear the ropes. Keeper Devon Conway is also someone who’s very good with the gloves. Overall, this is one such area that Kane Williamson and the company will not be worried about during the T20 World Cup 2022.
