4. Sanju Samson - Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson has been a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League. In the 2022 season as well, the 27-year-old displayed his prowess with the bat. The Rajasthan Royals skipper aggregated 458 runs at an impressive strike rate of 146.79 in 17 matches and played an instrumental role in giding his team to the final.
Samson was in the reckoning for a T20 World Cup spot and did fairly well for the Men in Blue this year. He featured in six T20Is and scored 179 runs at a strike rate of 158.41. However, the flamboyant batter was not selected in India's squad for the global event.
The Kerala batter was contesting for a backup batter slot with Deepak Hooda being the primary contender. Deepak offers flexibility to bat at any position and is quite handy with his off-spin too. This tilted the balance in favour of Hooda and he was selected ahead of Samson.
