India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia was announced on Monday, September 12.  The squad announcement saw premier pace bowlers Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah return to the Indian setup. Also, promising young talents like Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Hooda made the cut.

However, some proven performers who fetched the big bucks in the last IPL Mega Auction and are rated highly in the T20 circuit failed to break into the 15-member team.

Let us look at the five most expensive players in IPL 2022, who missed out on India's squad for the marquee tournament.

5. Avesh Khan -  INR 10 crore (Lucknow Super Giants)

Avesh Khan broke into the national side on the back of stellar performances in the IPL. He had a good season for the Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 too where he took 18 wickets in 13 games at an economy of 8.73.

Avesh can consistently bowl at speed of over 140 kmph and also has a variety of slower balls in his arsenal. India looked at him as a great prospect for the World Cup and gave him a consistent run. However, the Indore-born pacer had a fairly ordinary Asia Cup 2022 and couldn't meet the expectations.

In the 15 T20I matches played thus far, the speedster has taken 13 wickets and conceded runs at an alarming rate of 9.11. He was competing for a seamer slot with fellow compatriot Arshdeep Singh. But the left-arm pacer was quite exceptional for the Men in Blue in the recently culminated Asia Cup and pipped Avesh in the race to the World Cup.
