Team-wise one player who was lucky to be retained

The players who got retained despite their underwhelming performances were fortunate to get another chance and hence there will be pressure on them to be assiduous and provide solid figures next time.

10. Anrich Nortje (Delhi Capitals)

Anrich Nortje is one of the prime bowlers for South Africa and in T20Is his incredible bowling figures add to his reputation. In 29 T20Is, by scalping 35 wickets at an economy of 7.11, he has been impressive for South Africa. In the previous season of the cash-rich league, he was bought by Delhi Capitals at a hefty price of INR 6.50 crores.

While playing for the same franchise in 2020 and 2021, he showed his brilliance by taking 34 wickets in 24 games. Looking at his incredible past for DC, the team management believed in the South African again and roped him in at the 2022 mega auction.

After spending a heavy amount on Nortje, the franchise was expecting him to play a key role with the ball in vanquishing the opponents, but with just nine wickets in six matches with an expensive economy of 9.72, he looked out of rhythm. But DC have thrown their weight behind him and hence Nortje will look to repay for the same in the upcoming edition.
