7. Varun Chakravarthy (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Varun Chakravarthy became a household name after his incredible bowling displays for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2020 and 2021. With his mystery spin bowling, he took a lot of wickets for the franchise and became one of their key players and a prominent figure in the league.
Before the 2022 mega auction, he was retained by the two-time IPL champions due to his impressive outings in the previous seasons.
In the 2023 edition of the league, he will be seen playing for the KKR again as he has found a place in the retention squad despite being fairly ordinary with the ball last season. Chakravarthy, featured in 11 games of the last edition and took only six wickets at a high economy of 8.51.
His inability to get wickets and stop the flow of runs in the last season hit his image of being an economical and a wicket-taking bowler. Before the mini-auction in December, the spin ace has been retained but in the next edition, he has to bring his magic back and deliver above-par performances for his team.
