Kapil Dev has played a crucial role in the development of Indian cricket. In the 1983 World Cup in England, he led the Indian team from the front and brought the maiden World Cup trophy to the nation. In 1994, he announced his retirement from international cricket after serving Indian cricket for 16 years.

Following his retirement, he was seen as a coach and commentator but nowadays, he is active in serving a popular news channel as a cricket expert. Besides that, he also owns Elevens, a cricket-themed restaurant in Patna. The restaurant was established by the former India captain in 2008.
