Former Australian Test skipper, Paine featured in 35 Tests for his country. Though his batting average in Tests remained modest (32.6) throughout his career and failed to score a test hundred, he did play some extremely important knocks down the order to rescue his side. He became Australia’s 46^th captain.

In 35 ODIs, he has scored a hundred.  

However, controversies often followed Paine during his cricketing career and often inflicted pain on his psyche.
