This England cricketer has represented his country in three tests as a fast bowler. Throughout his career, the 29-year-old has been nursing injuries. Also known as Olly Stone, the cricketer has claimed 150 wickets in 44 first-class matches. However, the lanky fast bowler made his Test debut against Ireland at Lord’s in 2019 and played his last Test match against New Zealand at Birmingham. The only T20I that Stone featured in was against Pakistan in Karachi. He failed to pick up a wicket in the match.

2. Washington Sundar

A gifted off-spinning all-rounder from India, Sundar came into limelight when he showed a fighting spirit in a Test match against Australia in Brisbane in January 2021. His first name can be easily mistaken for the capital of the United States (Washington DC). The word Sundar if used in Hindi language roughly stands for beautiful in English. In India’s cash-rich T20 league, IPL, Sundar represents Sunrisers Hyderabad. In domestic cricket, he plays for the state of Tamil Nadu.

He is an extremely gifted batter and a handy off-spinner from Australia. With five centuries in Tests and three in ODIs, the Australian batter averages 40 plus in both formats. At the age of 29, he is cementing his position in at least two formats of the game. Born in 1993, Head made a name for himself in international cricket when he debuted in 2016. Against England, he made 152 in 132 balls in an ODI game while his two more centuries in ODIs came against Pakistan in Adelaide and Lahore. In Tests, the batter has five centuries and 12 fifties.

The English veteran played 22 Tests, 25 ODIs, and 18 T20Is for his national side. In Tests, Sidebottom has claimed five 5-fors and five 4-fors. He was well known for his curly hair. Sidebottom’s father was a sports lover, played football and also featured in a test match. Sidebottom last represented his country in Tests way back in 2010 in Johannesburg in South Africa. He had debuted against Pakistan at Lord’s in 2001.

5. Jordon Christopher Silk

He is an Australian cricketer, often seen featuring in the Big Bash League for the Sydney Sixers. He is yet to represent Australia in international cricket, but has played 79 first-class games. The word Silk is a material noun. People wear clothes made of silk. Silk is working hard to get a call up for his national side.

6. Joe Root

Joseph Edward Root is a stylish English batter known for his heroics with the bat in red ball cricket. Part of the coveted FabFour, Root has amassed 10,700 runs in Tests laced with 28 hundreds. Like roots are important for the life of a plant, the cricketer Root is the backbone of England batting in the longer format. He is considered Mr Dependable. Joe Root is often being compared to India’s Virat Kohli, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Australia’s Steve Smith and Pakistan’s Babar Azam when it comes to his batting prowess in red ball cricket.

7. Phil Salt

Known for his aggressive and explosive batting in white ball format, the English player from North Wales has represented England in ODIs and T20Is. Salt is known for his aggressive brand of cricket. In the absence of Jonny Bairstow or Jason Roy, the young cricketer has been given some chances to showcase his talent at international stage. Generally, salt is needed as an important ingredient during cooking.

There is a backstory how this cricketer from southern part of India was named Sachin Baby by his father. It is said that when a 15-year-old Sachin Tendulkar scored his first ton on his debut in first-class cricket, a baby was born in Kerala a week later. Drawing inspiration from Sachin’s century at the Wankhade, the baby’s father named his child as Sachin Baby. As of now, Sachin Baby is a veteran of 82 first-class matches but is yet to represent his country at the highest level.

9. Jofra Archer

A lanky bowler with a broad frame, Archer is a Barbadian cricketer who represents England cricket team in international cricket. Before moving to the United Kingdom, he represented the West Indies U19 team. For England, Archer has featured in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Plagued by injuries, the fiery fast bowler has missed some important series. At the age of 27, he remains one of the feared bowlers in all formats of the game. His full name is Jofra Chioke Archer. He plays for Sussex in domestic cricket, and is no mug with the bat down the order.

10. Tim Paine

Former Australian Test skipper, Paine featured in 35 Tests for his country. Though his batting average in Tests remained modest (32.6) throughout his career and failed to score a test hundred, he did play some extremely important knocks down the order to rescue his side. He became Australia’s 46th captain. In 35 ODIs, he has scored a hundred. However, controversies often followed Paine during his cricketing career and often inflicted pain on his psyche. As a matter of fact, Paine took over as Australian skipper only when both Steve Smith and David Warner were removed from any leadership role following the infamous ball tampering fiasco in Newlands, South Africa. After leading his side, another controversy actually proved detrimental to his cricketing career.
