Top 10 ODI batters with best-chasing records
Virat Kohli’s exceptional 85-run knock against Australia in the 2023 World Cup has put him in a special place on the list of the best batters in run-chases.
1. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli recently became the most successful run-chaser in ODIs with his fabulous 85-run innings against Australia in the 2023 World Cup match played in Chennai. His batting numbers in chases are 5517 runs in 92 innings of 98 matches and with these figures, he surpassed his compatriot Sachin Tendulkar who was holding this amazing batting record.
The India batting stalwart’s sensational innings against the Aussies was lauded a lot in the cricketing fraternity as the two-time World Cup champion side was three down at a score of two while chasing a mere 200. In the crunch situation, Kohli held his nerves and eventually rescued the team with his outstanding knock.
Earlier in his ODI career, Kohli played an ODI knock of 133 (86) against Sri Lanka in Hobart in 2012. His ODI career’s best innings also came in 2012 during the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan in Dhaka. In the high-octane clash, India were tasked to chase 330 and Kohli scored an exceptional 183 to guide his side to a six-wicket triumph.
