Irfan Pathan holds the record for best bowling figures in a U19 ODI match. He achieved that record in the Asia U19 tournament in Pakistan in 2003. This was a match between India U19 and Bangladesh U19 in Lahore.
India was asked to bat first by Bangladesh captain Nafeez Iqbal. Thanks to Dinesh Karthik’s 77 and contributions from Suresh Raina (47), Irfan Pathan (34), and Shivakant Shukla (24), India U19 posted 223 runs.
In response, Pathan blew away the Bangladeshi side with an exemplary display of swing and seam as he picked 9/16 in 7.5 overs with 3 maidens. None of the Bangladeshi batters reached double figures as they were bowled out for 34 runs in 14.5 overs. India won the match by 189 runs.
