3. India vs Sri Lanka, Karachi 2008, (310/4)
India and Sri Lanka faced off at the National Stadium in Karachi in what was a dress rehearsal for the Asia Cup final. The Sri Lankans decided to rest mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis for this contest. Mendis would eventually bag his best bowling figures of 6/13 in the summit clash against the same opposition a few days later.
Sri Lanka went on to score 308/8 riding on half-centuries from skipper Mahela Jayawardene (50), Chamara Kapugedara (75), and, Chamara Silva (50) after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
The Men in Blue in reply got off to a solid start as Gautam Gambhir (68) and Virender Sehwag (42) added 92 runs for the opening wicket. Once the duo was dismissed, Suresh Raina (54) and skipper MS Dhoni (67) anchored the run chase with a 99-run third-wicket stand. Yuvraj Singh (36) and Rohit Sharma (22) added finishing touches as India got over the line by six wickets in the 47th over.
