India vs Pakistan, Dhaka, 2012 (330/4)
This has to be arguably the most high-voltage India-Pakistan clash in Asia Cup history. Having suffered an upset against Bangladesh in the last game where Sachin Tendulkar registered his 100th international century, India emerged victorious in this must-win encounter which was also a high-scoring contest.
Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq elected to bat first on a flat wicket. Openers Nasir Jamshed (112) and Mohammad Hafeez (105) laid a solid foundation with a 224-run opening stand and finishing touches from Younis Khan (52) in the middle-order powered the Men in Green to a mammoth total of 329/6.
In reply, India received an instant setback when Gautam Gambhir was dismissed for a silver duck. Sachin Tendulkar and a young Virat Kohli then rebuilt the Indian innings with a 133-run stand for the second wicket before the latter was sent back for a vital 48-ball 52. Kohli then single-handedly took on the lethal Pakistani bowling attack and kept dealing in boundaries. He scored a blistering 183 runs from 148 deliveries and his knock included 22 fours and a six at an outstanding strike rate of 123.64. Kohli's splendid knock helped India get past the finish line by six wickets with 13 balls to spare.
