Top 5 Indians Players involved in most Run-Outs in T20I International cricket

The runout mode of dismissal can be termed one of the most frustrating ways to get out in cricket. Many times, it’s the fault of either of the batters and very rarely, it is the brilliance of the fielders. Either the batter calling for the run adjudged it incorrectly, or the other batter didn’t hear the call, or some other reason. Indian players are also infamous for getting run out in international cricket a lot. The recent most example was seen in the first T20I between India and Afghanistan in Mohali on January 11. Rohit Sharma hit a shot straight and set off for a run, but Shubman Gill, his partner was watching the ball and didn’t respond. This resulted in Rohit getting run out for a duck on the second ball of the match. Here are the top five Indian players involved in the most Run-Outs in T20I International cricket: 1. Ravindra Jadeja Ravindra Jadeja. (Photo Source: BCCI) Ravindra Jadeja is one of the fastest runners on the field. He is also pretty fast between the wickets on the 22-yards. However, sometimes he underestimates that his partners are not as fast as he is. He is seen running fast between the wickets with someone like MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli. But oftentimes, he forgets that at the other end, the other batter is not as fast as him. This has also resulted in Jadeja getting run out and his count in T20Is stands at four times in international T20 matches. He has been run out four times in T20Is and his highest score while being dismissed in this mode was seven runs. 2. Shikhar Dhawan Shikhar Dhawan. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) Shikhar Dhawan opened the batting for India throughout his career and is considered to be a decently fast runner between the wickets. He played 68 T20Is, scoring 1759 runs with 11 fifties to his name from 2011-2021. His highest score was 92 and his strike rate was just around 127. Despite being a good runner between the wickets, Shikhar Dhawan had Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on the other hand. While all three players are astute judges of runs in between the wicket, Shikhar Dhawan found himself getting run out five times in his career. The highest score at which he got run out was 47. 3. Rohit Sharma Rohit Sharma. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) Rohit Sharma is often trolled for his heavyset build on the field. While the likes of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and others brought six-pack culture to the Indian team, Rohit Sharma has stood out with his unique physique. However, he still managed to play 149 T20Is for India from 2007 onwards. He has 3853 runs with four centuries and 29 fifties with a highest score of 118. However, despite being a very good judge of a run and a fast runner between the wickets, Rohit Sharma has been run out six times in T20Is. His highest score while getting run out is 89 and he recently registered another runout dismissal against Afghanistan. 4. Virat Kohli Virat Kohli. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) For someone so fast between the wickets, Virat Kohli has been run out in T20Is six times in his career. The highest score at which he was run out in T20Is was 77 runs. Along with perhaps Ravindra Jadeja, Kohli has been the fastest runner between the wickets in the Indian team for some time now. This despite a bunch of 20-year-olds making their debuts in the Men in Blue side, Kohli remains the fastest. He boasts of an excellent T20I career, as he is the highest run-getter in the format with 4008 runs in 115 T20Is. He has one century and 37 fifties to his name with the highest of 122* and an average of 52.73. He is expected to be seen in action in Afghanistan T20Is soon. 5. MS Dhoni MS Dhoni. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) Legendary MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the fastest between the wickets in the Indian team. Dhoni and Virat Kohli stealing doubles from the hands of Australian fielders in a T20 World Cup 2016 match remains a core memory of MSD and Indian team fans. Dhoni put immense pressure on the fielders and motivated his fellow batters to be quick in between wickets. But running fast between the wickets has its downfalls as MS Dhoni got run out six times in his T20I career. He played 98 T20Is, scoring 1617 runs at an average of 37.80, and scored only two fifties. However, he remains the only Indian captain to lift the T20 World Cup trophy.
