4. 133* off 86 balls vs Sri Lanka, Commonwealth Bank Series, 2012

India took on Sri Lanka in their final game of the Commonwealth Bank Series in Hobart in February 2012. After being put to bat, Mahela Jayawardene & co posted a daunting total of 320 runs on the board riding on tons from Tillakaratne Dilshan (160* runs off 165 balls) and Kumar Sangakkara (105 runs off 87 balls).

India needed to chase down the total in 40 overs to pip the Lankan Lions on the net-run rate to keep their chances alive of making it to the finals of the tri-nation series. The stakes were high and the task was arduous. Someone needed to play a blinder of a knock and Kohli rose to the challenge.

The star batter arrived at the crease with India at 86 for 2 with Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar back in the hut. Kohli took the attack to the opposition right from the get-go and smashed 133* runs off 86 deliveries to get India across the line. His match-winning knock included 16 fours and two maximums.
