Despite incessant rain lashing at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 30, 2019, the match officials decided to have a five-over affair once the showers slowed down. Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to field first to have a total in place.

However, the opening pair of AB de Villiers and skipper Virat Kohli were on a mission as they operated in tandem to fire 23 runs off the first over. Kohli got two glorious maximums off pacer Varun Aaron and followed it with a single to get 13 off the first three balls.

The explosive South African then took the onus on himself to score big as he slammed two boundaries and got a double to conclude the over with 23 runs. In doing so, Aaron made his name in an unwanted list as he leaked the fourth most runs in the IPL history. The match yielded a no-result as it began pouring at the venue, despite just 10 balls remaining in the contest.
