UPT20 Auction 2024: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shivam Mavi among highest paid players

Uttar Pradesh's marquee T20 tournament, the UPT20 league concluded its auctions on for the 2024 edition on Sunday, July 28. Some notable names were put under the hammer for the 2024 auctions, and teams spent huge amounts to add skilled and seasoned players to their kitty. The biggest name of the lot was veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who also became the most expensive player in the league.

Kumar, who represented Noida Super Kings in 2023, was released by the franchise, and as a marquee player, the 34-year-old was sold for a whopping INR 30.25 lakh. Lucknow Falcons, who finished third in the last edition, bagged the services of the swing bowler, and is likely to be named the captain ahead for the upcoming season. Gorakhpur Lions and Kanpur Superstars also placed bids, but Lucknow had the last laugh. Noida did not use their Right To Match (RTM) card for Bhuvi, and thus, the pacer has now found a new home in the state-born tournament.

Another pacer and youngster, Shivam Mavi, was taken by Kashi Rudras for a staggering sum of INR 20.5 lakh. The speedster has had injuries, owing to which, he has been sidelined from the Indian team after impressing in his debut series. Nonetheless, impressive performances in the domestic circuit may well open the roads for a national comeback.

Another IPL star, who plays for the UP-based franchise - Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, Mohsin Khan went to Kanpur Superstars. The left-arm pacer was added to Kanpur's squad for INR 19.25 lakh. Amroha-born Uvais Ahmad was the third-most expensive player to be sold, as Meerut Mavericks went for the attacking batter for INR 20 lakh.

Shoaib Siddiqui stood fifth in the list of most expensive bid. The 22-year-old was bought for amount equal to Mohsin, and the wicketkeeper-batter will be plying his trade for the Kanpur in the 2024 edition.
