After the loss in World Test Championship final last month, Team India will return to action with a full-fledged series against West Indies. India will play two Tests, three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals against West Indies. The squads of all the series have already been announced.

The Test series will begin India's tour of West Indies before the ODI and the T20I series take place. The selectors have once again ignored senior stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the T20I side, giving yet another indication that the veteran stars are unlikely to be a part of the team for next year's T20 World Cup.

The Ajit Agarkar-led panel has named a few new faces in the team along with a few players who desperately need to prove themselves. The five-match series against West Indies will give the players a golden opportunity to impress the selectors and cement their spots in the team. So before the series begins, we are taking a look at three players to watch out for in the upcoming series.

3. Umran Malik

Umran Malik had a disappointing outing in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL). The speedster was one of Sunrisers Hyderabad's best bowlers in IPL last year when he picked up 22 wickets in 14 games including a five-wicket haul. Umran made a big impression with his sheer pace in the competition.

The performance also helped him earn his maiden India call-up. But just a year after taking the world by storm with his performance in IPL, the right-arm pacer from Jammu and Kashmir failed to live up to the expectations. Such was his performance in IPL 2023 that he could not even get a regular chance in the playing eleven.

Overall, Umran played eight matches and managed to pick up only five wickets at an average and economy rate of 43.3 and 10.8 respectively. He has been named in the India T20I squad and will garner a lot of attention as the critics would be keeping an eye on him. Umran would be keen to bounce back with a good performance against West Indies.
