Women's T20 World Cup 2023: 5 players who can finish as leading run getters
Certain batters have the prowess to light up the T20 carnival with their jaw-dropping performances and emerge as the leading run-getter of the tournament.
2. Smriti Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana has taken world cricket by storm from the time she donned the national colours. The 26-year-old has put up an exhibition of her swashbuckling stroke play and taken the opposition bowlers to the cleaners. Also, she has shown the ability to adapt according to the situation and steadied the ship when the team has been in trouble.
Mandhana has featured in 77 ODIs and aggregated 3073 runs at an average of 43.28. Coming to the shortest format, the southpaw has represented the Women in Blue on 112 occasions and smashed 2651 runs at a strike rate of 123.13.
However. Mandhana has not been at her consistent best of late. In the recently culminated tri-Series against the West Indies and South Africa, she did not have much impact on the competition, barring a half-century against Hayley Matthews in the third game. Though the ace batter is amid a lean patch, she has the mental fortitude to come back strongly and make the T20 World Cup 2023 her own.
