Women's T20 World Cup 2023: 5 players who can finish as leading run getters
Certain batters have the prowess to light up the T20 carnival with their jaw-dropping performances and emerge as the leading run-getter of the tournament.
1. Alyssa Healy
Alyssa Healy has been a giant of a player in world cricket. The 32-year-old has featured in 94 ODIs and scored 2639 runs at a strike rate of 100.18. When it comes to the T20Is, the wicketkeeper batter has accumulated 2300 runs in 136 matches at a strike rate of 127.91.
Healy has destroyed bowling attacks at will and made world cricket her happy hunting ground. On her day, the wicketkeeper-batter has taken down even the best of bowlers and stamped her authority on the cricket field.
Healy has been quite magnificent in ICC tournaments. In the T20 World Cup 2020, she plundered 236 runs in six games at a stunning strike rate of 156.29. Then in the 2022 World Cup, the ace batter featured in nine games and amassed 509 runs at a strike rate of 103.67.
Given her track record in marquee events, it would not be a surprise if she sets the upcoming T20 extravaganza in South Africa ablaze with her batting performances and finishes the tournament as its leading run-getter.
