World Cup 2023: 3 Players who can replace Rishabh Pant in India's squad if he is ruled out of entire season
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained multiple injuries due to a freak car accident in December 2022.
3. Ishan Kishan
The young keeper-batter has received quite a lot of opportunities lately, as he has featured in all of the matches thus far in the ongoing West Indies tour. In the three ODIs against the Windies, Ishan’s batting exploits were on full display as he compiled scores of 52, 55, and 77 runs, respectively.
For Ishan, this will be an opportunity to perform well on the big stage, assuming Rishabh fails to recover in time for the World Cup. That said, team India in all likelihood, will turn to KL Rahul as their regular wicketkeeper, with Ishan as the second option.
Ishan Kishan also holds the potential to open the batting order and provide a solid head start coupled with raising invaluable partnerships. In addition to this, the 25-year-old has done fairly well behind the stumps but will need to refine his keeping skills a tad bit more to soak in the World Cup pressure. Therefore, Ishan will certainly be on the minds of the selectors for the World Cup squad, who can join the setup in place of Rishabh Pant.
