Sanju Samson is currently in the midst of the series against the West Indies and featured in the final two fixtures of the three-match ODI series. In his first outing, the Kerala-born batter headed back to the dugout for a paltry score of nine runs off 19 balls but made a decent comeback in the following game as he slammed 51 off 41 balls in India’s resounding 200-run win.

He also had a decent IPL season with Rajasthan Royals as he accumulated 362 runs in 14 matches, lacing it with three fifties at an average of 30.17. Much like Ishan, Samson too has a fair chance of making it to the setup for the World Cup, keeping in mind that the player has got some opportunities in the recent past with the national team.

In addition to this, the Asia Cup 2023 will act as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup, and the selection committee could back him to feature in the ACC event. Invaluable knocks in the Asia Cup would eventually help solidify his position in the squad for the World Cup.
