7. Australia- 6/10
Australia kicked off their tournament with huge losses against India and South Africa. Following their embarrassing defeats, the Aussies made a comeback, winning three consecutive games. With the Men in Yellow back on the winning track, Aussie supporters are now expecting their team to be in the knockout round.
There were a lot of talks about the Australian team’s fielding in this competition as the Yellow Army didn’t look disciplined as a fielding unit. In their maiden game against India, Mitchell Marsh failed to grab the important catch of Virat Kohli, who was playing on 12. The missed chance proved costly for the five-time champions as the batting maestro brought India back into the game with his extraordinary innings of 85 off 116.
Following the six-wicket defeat at the hands of the hosts, the Aussies were pummelled by the Proteas by 134 runs in Lucknow. Australia received criticism for putting down five catches in the match. Their outstanding fielders Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Marcus Stoinis also dropped sitters.
