New Zealand have put up impressive shows in ICC tournaments consistently since 2016. However, their tendency to choke in knockouts is a concern but in the World Cup 2023, they are going with a balanced side that looks dreadful for the opponents. Batters such as Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, and Daryl Mitchell are known for causing damage to quality bowling attacks.

These illustrious names will strengthen New Zealand’s batting in the top-order and upper-middle-order, while Glenn Phillips’ duty will be to serve the team as a finisher in the lower-middle-order.  The right-handed batter has shown up in 21 ODIs and scored 450 runs with two half-centuries in 15 innings.

This year, Phillips showcased his match-finishing skills in the one-day match played between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium, Karachi. Riding on his unbeaten 63 off 42, the Kiwi side chased down 281 and succeeded in winning their first ODI series in Pakistan after 47 years.
