In the first week of the World Cup 2023, there are some matches to note where some teams looked confident with the ball.</p>
<p>In some matches, it was seen that some bowling units looked spunky and complemented their batting attacks to win matches. However, there are also some bowling attacks that have failed to find a rhythm in this tournament. <p>The Netherlands played quality cricket in the World Cup 2023 qualifier in Zimbabwe and advanced to the World Cup 2023. In this tournament, the Dutch side hasn’t created any impact so far but in the upcoming matches, their endeavours will be to upset some heavyweights.</p>
<p>In their first game against <strong>Pakistan</strong> in Hyderabad, Scott Edwards and his men faced a crushing 81-run defeat but their bowling attack gave a headache to the Men in Green. Scalping Pakistan’s three wickets at a score of 38, the Dutch team had put Babar Azam and his men under pressure.</p>
<p>The Netherlands’ next game was against New Zealand at the same venue but this time, their bowling was completely dominated. Taking advantage of their indisciplined bowling, the Kiwis racked up 322 runs on the board which became too big for the Dutch batters to achieve in the end.</p>

<p><strong>Afghanistan</strong> thrashed England by 69 runs in match 13 of the tournament and won their first World Cup game after eight years. In this scintillating victory, Afghan bowlers played a vital role. Riding on their bowlers’ efforts, the Afghan side defended 284 successfully, dismissing England on 215.</p>
<p>However, Afghanistan’s bowling wasn’t the same in the first week of the competition. Against Bangladesh, Afghan fast bowlers took three wickets but the team didn’t have a lot of runs to defend. Saving 156 runs, the Afghan side required a charismatic performance from bowlers which they failed to get.</p>
<p>Their next clash was against the Rohit Sharma-led India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In this game, the bowlers got 272 runs to defend against the hosts. Against the quality side, the Afghan bowling unit looked underconfident which helped the India batters chase down the fine total in just 35 overs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bangladesh cricket team supporters are expecting their side to create problems for other quality teams in this World Cup, however, they failed to do wonders in the first week of the tournament. In their opening game against Afghanistan, their bowlers stepped up and delivered a heroic performance as a unit.</p>
<p>The Bangla bowlers folded Hashmatullah Shahidi and his boys on a mere 156. The low target made the batters’ job easy as Bangladesh eventually won the game comfortably by six wickets. After getting a fine start in the tournament, Shakib and his men got a crushing 137-run defeat at the hands of the defending champions England.</p>
<p>Winning the toss in the huge match, <strong>Shakib Al Hasan</strong> invited England to bat first. The Bangla skipper’s decision backfired as England batters came heavily on the bowlers and amassed 364 runs on the board. Mahedi Hasan took four wickets in the contest but also splurged 71 runs in his eight overs at an economy of 8.88.</p>

<p>Sri Lanka have failed to be impressive in this competition, so far as they haven’t won any game in their three outings. Witnessing their team’s performance in the first two matches, Sri Lanka team fans will be satiated with their batters’ work but must be miffed with bowlers.</p>
<p>In their inaugural game against South Africa in Delhi, <strong>Sri Lanka</strong> elected to bowl first after winning the toss. Taking advantage of the batting track, the Protea batters took Sri Lanka’s bowling attack to the cleaners and accumulated 428 runs on the board in their 50 overs.</p>
<p>The horrendous bowling show from the bowlers cost the 1996 champions this match by a huge margin of 102 runs. Following the loss in Delhi, Dasun Shanaka and his men locked horns with Pakistan in Hyderabad. In the first half of the game, everything went well for Sri Lanka as their batters Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored magnificent centuries and helped their side to post 344 runs on the board.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The superb batting efforts of both players went in vain as Sri Lanka bowlers failed to save the big total in front of Mohammad Rizwan (unbeaten 131 runs off 121 deliveries) and Abdullah Shafique (113 runs off 103 balls). Matheesha Pathirana, who was one of the key bowlers of Sri Lanka’s pace attack, gave away 90 runs in his nine-over spell and emerged as a failure.</p>

<p>Pakistan are facing a lot of criticism for losing the high-octane game against the arch-rivals India in Ahmedabad. In this contest, the Men in Blue outclassed the Green Army in all departments of the game and clinched a convincing seven-wicket win. Ahead of the game, the contest was expected to be intriguing between both teams but that didn’t happen.</p>
<p>In the first week of the tournament, Pakistan’s performance was decent as they had beaten the Netherlands and Sri Lanka without any hassle. Against the Dutch side, their batters struggled but the bowlers looked confident. Defending the total of 286, Pakistan bowlers wrapped up Scott Edwards and Co. on 205 runs in 41 overs.</p>
<p>After hammering the Netherlands, <strong>Pakistan </strong>registered the highest successful run-chase in the World Cup, pulling off a target of 345 against Sri Lanka. Despite winning the match, Pakistan’s dismal bowling received criticism. Illustrious pacers such as Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali looked ineffective.</p>

Since the start of the competition, they didn’t look settled and confident as a side. In the inaugural game against New Zealand, they faced a nine-wicket loss.</p>
<p>At the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Devon Conway (152 off 121) and Rachin Ravindra (123 off 96) dominated the frail bowling line-up and registered a comfortable nine-wicket win. Both batters stitched a 273-run partnership in this contest which played an instrumental role in the Kiwi team’s one-sided triumph. England’s key bowlers Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Adil Rashid struggled in this game as they failed to contain the flow of runs.</p>
<p>After the embarrassing defeat at the hands of New Zealand, the England team looked fabulous against Bangladesh in all departments of the game and recorded a 137-run win. The Men in Yellow kicked off their campaign against the hosts India with a six-wicket defeat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.</p>
<p>In their maiden World Cup 2023 match, <strong>Australia</strong> put up an ordinary show against the two-time World Cup champions. In front of India’s quality bowling attack, the Aussie batters were bundled out at a score of 199. Following the terrible batting performance, Cummins banked on his bowlers to defend the low total.</p>
<p>The Aussie bowlers put immense pressure on India, dismissing three batters at a score of two. Josh Hazlewood scalped the prized wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in his first over and brought his team back into the game.
