World Cup 2023: Rating bowling performances of all teams in first week
After 11 days of the cricketing extravaganza, it's essential to rate the bowling displays of all 10 sides.
4. Australia - 7/10
Australia’s record is sensational in the World Cup but in this edition of the massive One-Day International (ODI) event, they aren’t looking decent under Pat Cummins. The Men in Yellow kicked off their campaign against the hosts India with a six-wicket defeat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
In their maiden World Cup 2023 match, Australia put up an ordinary show against the two-time World Cup champions. In front of India’s quality bowling attack, the Aussie batters were bundled out at a score of 199. Following the terrible batting performance, Cummins banked on his bowlers to defend the low total.
The Aussie bowlers put immense pressure on India, dismissing three batters at a score of two. Josh Hazlewood scalped the prized wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in his first over and brought his team back into the game. However, after picking up three batters early, the Aussie bowlers failed to hold their nerves against the veterans Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.
