2. Shweta Sehrawat
Shweta Sehrawat was expected to attract the franchises due to her excellent performance for the India U-19 team in the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup. Scoring 297 runs with three half-centuries in seven matches at a phenomenal strike rate of 139.43, she became the leading run-scorer in the tournament.
The 19-year-old had submitted her name at the WPL auction with her base price of INR 10 lakh. However, looking at her recent batting record, UPW and DC engaged in a bidding battle that ended in the former’s favour with the teenage player fetching INR 40 lakh.
Following her fabulous batting effort in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup, the Warriors might assign her the task to open the batting with Australis’s Alyssa Healy. On the other hand, she would also look to deliver her best with the bat to earn the reputation of a reliable player in the team.
