3. Ellyse Perry & Dane van Niekerk
Ausstralian all-rounder Ellyse Perry was expected to be in demand among the franchises in the WPL auction, and that is exactly what happened at the event too. She went to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at INR 1.7 crore as the franchise got involved in a bidding battle with Delhi Capitals to sign her for the inaugural WPL edition. Her addition will help the team as she has immense experience playing T20 cricket for several top teams in her career.
In T20Is, her record is excellent as she has scored 1,515 runs with seven fifties in 135 matches at a strike rate of 111.97. Apart from international cricket, she is a huge figure in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) as well. Currently, she is the second-leading run-scorer in the tournament. So far, in 111 WBBL appearances, she has amassed 3,769 runs with two tons and 25 fifties at a strike rate of 104.34. With the ball as well, she has picked 51 wickets at an economy of 7.04.
Along with Perry, South African player Dane van Niekerk will also be important for RCB as she will also join them as an all-rounder. In the auction, the franchise acquired her services and roped her in at her base amount of INR 30 lakh in the accelerated round. The veteran has racked up 1,877 runs and 65 wickets for her nation in 86 T20Is. She has immense experience in the WBBL and has led Oval Invincibles to consecutive title victories at The Hundred.
