The player auction for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to take place on February 13 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. A total of 409 players, of which 163 are overseas (eight from associate nations). will feature at the marquee event
WPL 2023 auction list comprises many top-drawer players and the franchises are likely to leave no stone unturned to sign them. However, among them, there are certain players who might garner a lot of interest in the bidding arena and might even fetch over INR 5 crore.
5. Deepti Sharma
Deepti Sharma has been a bankable name in the international arena. The 25-year-old has been impeccable with her lines and lengths and stemmed the flow of runs, providing her side with timely breakthroughs. Also, she has been a valuable contributor with the bat and played crucial knocks for the Women in Blue.
Deepti has featured in 87 T20Is and bagged 96 wickets at an economy of 6.08. On the batting front, she has bagged 914 runs at a strike rate of 106.52. Coming to the ODIs, she has picked 91 wickets at an economy of 4.18 and scored 1891 runs at an average of 36.36.
Besides her exploits with bat and ball, Deepti is a brilliant reader of the game and has shown her leadership credentials in the past. In the 2022 season of the Women’s T20 Challenge, she guided Velocity to the finals of the competition. Thus, given what the ace all-rounder brings to the table, teams might go hammer and tongs to sign her at the auction.
