The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 saw the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians clinch the title after defeating Delhi Capitals in the final showdown of the tournament.

The first season of the tournament completely lived up to its billing as it showcased some memorable moments produced by the best of the best in women’s cricket. Following the conclusion of the competition, let us have a look at the top five moments from the inaugural WPL.

5. Grace Harris’ masterclass against Gujarat Giants

Undoubtedly, one of the best moments from the tournament came when UP Warriorz took on Gujarat Giants in the third match of the competition. Batting first, the Sneh Rana-led Gujarat looked to register their first win of the WPL, and they did put up a decent score on the board, scoring 169 runs.

They followed it up with an exemplary start to the second innings, as both of Warriorz’ openers were sent back to the pavilion quite early on. Kiran Navgire fought back and scored 53 runs to give the side some hope, but things went from bad to worse after Tahlia McGrath and Deepti Sharma were unable to post some runs on the board as well.

As all seemed lost for UP Warriorz, Grace Harris came in to bat and played a knock for the ages. The 29-year-old Australian all-rounder scored 59*(26) to propel her struggling side to an emphatic victory.
