Yet another enthralling season of the Women’s Premier League has reached its conclusion as the tournament saw a new winner in the form of Royal Challengers Bangalore. The final saw the Bangalore-based franchise take home the title with an emphatic victory over the Delhi Capitals as they sealed the win with eight wickets in hand.
Before the season began, the teams had splashed the cash on players hoping that their investments would be beneficial for the franchise throughout the season. Some records were broken in the auction but were these players able to live upto their price tags this season. Let’s take a look at the performances of each franchise’s costliest purchase this season.
Here are the most expensive buys of each team after the league:
5. Ekta Bisht (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Royal Challengers Bangalore didn’t tinker much with their squad despite not being able to qualify for the playoffs during the previous season. That move certainly paved the way for the franchise as they ended up lifting the title during the second edition of the Women’s Premier League. But they did make some strange decisions in the auction which was held in the lead up to the tournament.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased Ekta Bisht for INR 60 Lakh ahead of the second season. The veteran bowler was not part of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League but was in great knick leading into the competition. But her performances could not help the franchise at all since she could only manage to play two games and did not claim any wickets at all. Therefore, at that price it might have been a failed buy for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the 37-year-old might not be retained for the third edition.
