In the auction, Mumbai Indians (MI) included another star player in their settled squad. South Africa’s veteran pacer Shabnim Ismail became a part of MI for INR 1.2 crore. The 35-year-old will join Issy Wong, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Saika Ishaque to serve MI’s pace attack efficiently in the competition.

Along with Ismail, Mumbai bought uncapped Indian players Keerthana Balakrishnan, Amandeep Kaur, S Sajana, and Fatima Jaffer. In the upcoming tournament, MI will be seen defending the title under Harmanpreet Kaur and the team management will expect their premier stalwarts to step up and play attacking cricket.

Key batters Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia, Brunt, and Harmanpreet Kaur played their part exceptionally in the previous WPL edition and they will look to continue their brilliant work again. Along with the bat, Matthews’ endeavours will be to make a vital contribution to the side with her spin-bowling. With Amelia Kerr, she will be expected to form a pair and make batters’ jobs difficult for the consecutive second season.
