The 2024 Women’s Premier League auction will be held on December 9, 2023, in Mumbai and before that, all five franchises have released some players who failed to justify their role in the inaugural instalment of the T20 extravaganza. A total of 165 players will go under the hammer in the upcoming business event.
Out of 165 names, 56 are capped players who carry the experience of playing women’s internationals. At the event, their endeavours will be to attract bidders to show up in the second edition of the league. However, some names might not get buyers in the auction due to their underwhelming performances in recent times.
Here are five capped players who might go unsold in the upcoming auction
5. Preeti Bose
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have released Preeti Bose before the auction after witnessing the left-arm spinner’s ineffective performance in the maiden season. Donning the Challengers’ jersey, she took only three wickets in six games at a horrendous economy of 9.52.
The 31-year-old will look to get a new buyer in the upcoming auction but her dismal performance might obstruct her chance to feature in the next season. After the WPL season, she hasn’t played any matches and this fact might also go against her in the auction.
