Cricket Association of Nepal to increase the remuneration of players by NPR 10,000
The Nepal Men's cricket team has been participating in international fixtures since 2013, including every ACC Trophy tournament.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to the request of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for increasing the remuneration of the Nepal men’s cricketers by NPR 10,000. CAN has divided the 22 men’s cricketers in three Grades namely Grade A, Grade B and Grade C.
As the players are yet to receive their pay for the 2019 year, the cricketers will be paid the increased salary for the previous year also, as quoted by the national cricket governing body. In 2017 and 2018, the A grade players were given a remuneration of NPR 35,000 per month while the Grade B and Grade C listers received the salary of NPR 25,000 and NPR 15,000 per month.
Now, as per the new pay scale after an increment of NPR 10,000, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will be giving an A-grade player NPR 45,000, a B-grader NPR 25,000, and a C-grader NPR 15,000 a month.
Sharing this news of their official twitter handle, the national cricket board of Nepal posted an official statement regarding the increment and also disclosed the name of the players in all the three Categories: A, B and C.
They tweeted, “CAN has disbursed the salary of 22 players (Senior Men’s) for 2019 as per the Central Contract.”
Eight players are named in the Grade A including the likes of Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Veswkar, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airy, Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC and Binod Bhandari .
Category B also features eight Nepal cricketers namely Abhinash Bohora, Aarif Seikh, Basant Regmi, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Pawan Sarraf, Rohit Poudel, Sandeep Jora and Sushan Bhari. The six players included in Category C are Ishan Pandey, Kushal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Pradeep Airee, Raju Rijal and Rasid Khan.
The Nepal Men’s cricket team has been participating in international fixtures since 2013, including every ACC Trophy tournament. The country received the One Day International (ODI) status after registering a win over Papua New Guinea in the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier playoff encounter. With getting ODI status Nepal also regained Twenty20 International (T20I) status. They played their first ODI games against Netherlands and it resulted in a 1-1 draw.
